Straight Shifts

Full time staff at Melton’s "too" will work six shifts over five days. Generally these will be from 10 am to 5 pm and 5 pm till close (approx. Midnight). Staff will therefore work four straight shifts and one double shift in the course of a week. Being the only split shift, the double shift will contain a two hour break within the afternoon and meals will be provided in each shift, as with all shifts. These hours will apply to all full time staff, both kitchen and front of house.

Minimum pay for both the cleaning and the washing up jobs will be above the minimum wage. Waiting staff will be paid from £5.00 an hour upwards, depending upon experience and qualifications.

Melton’s "too" combines an informal and friendly approach to service with great food and a pleasant atmosphere. Melton’s staff pursue an active social calendar and are encouraged to visit both Melton’s and "too" as customers. A casual uniform will be provided for waiting staff which will reflect the relaxed cafe-bar feeling.

Melton’s "too" staff have a five week holiday entitlement of which three days, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day are fixed. The rest can be booked for when it suits you, dependent upon other staff and timing.

Full-time staff at "too" will have the opportunity to work in both a bar and a cafe environment, serving drinks as well as waiting on tables and will be invited, on occasion, to work at Melton’s restaurant as well. Chefs will benefit from a frequently changing menu and the opportunity to prepare the vast majority of the menu from scratch.

Staff are welcome to eat in the restaurant once per month, without charge, paying only for their drinks and the meals of any guests they bring with them.

Melton’s and Melton’s "too" provide thorough induction programmes and periodic appraisals, as well as regular training sessions for staff. Consequently "too" offers its staff the chance to pursue an assortment of NVQ qualifications as well as the Wine And Spirit Education Trust’s certificate.

Melton’s "too" has arrangements in place to pay into the stakeholder pension any contributions you wish to a Clerical Medical fund.
