Beneath the Oak started as a jam between friends who had acoustic guitars and a mandolin! They are now an established band playing Nu-folk with a medieval twist.

Holly Taymar is fast becoming one of the North's most respected acoustic performers. With a delicate, yet soulful voice, stylised finger picked guitar work and songs that recount the trials and tribulations of life in York, Holly's live shows are not to be missed. At just 22, Holly is a seasoned performer, having played at venues up and down the country, gaining recognition for both her work as a musician and as a songwriter. Holly's natural stage presence and beautiful delivery make this stripped back show a must see.

Dark acoustic songs about death interspersed with funk, anger, monkeys and air traffic controllers.

Drew Stephenson has been playing and writing songs since he was at college in Edinburgh. Starting off in folk sessions he soon put together his first band and went electric, unlike Dylan, no-one cried "Judas".Since then there have been many bands and many changes of direction but he has now really begun to craft out his own sound as a solo performer. Dr Jones' cello has added depth and resonance to an already dynamic act.

‘Third Thursday’ Wine & Food Evenings at Mtoo

We team up with Northern Wine Academy and run tutored wine tastings of at least 7 wines along with one course supper and coffee. Northern Wine Academy staff or a guest speaker will conduct the relaxed informal tasting and our chefs will choose a dish to compliment the theme of the evening.

Paula Ryan - A singer-songwriter whose songs are inspired by her Irish Gaelic roots and driven by the funky rhythmic influences and wacky instruments of music from other cultures.

Paula promises to regale all with an entertaining mixture of powerful original material along with contemporary and traditional songs from her native Ireland, Scotland and elsewhere.

Sharon and Helen (TWO), both singer/songwriters in their own right, have come together as a duo to produce a sound that is reminiscent of the Indigo Girls. With juicy harmonies and some intricate guitar playing their songs range from the light and humorous to the positively macabre. And their particular brand of banter can only come from two women sharing a stage!
